Happenstance includes many fabulous musicians (we are the envy of many Morris sides) and some enthusiastic dancers. We meet at Abbeyfields Community Centre every Thursday evening in the winter months for practice. During the rest of the year we dance out at various pubs, fairs and gatherings. This year, for example, we danced out at a local care home, on Broadway Village Green, numerous Village pubs, toasted the trees at Hayles Fruit Farm and danced at dawn on May Day up on Cleeve Common. You may well have seen us dancing out at our regular haunt, The Plaisterers Arms in Winchcombe.
We are always looking to increase our numbers – particularly dancers. People of all ages, are equally welcome. We provide the essential sticks and bells and have a lot of fun creating our own tatter jackets and decorating our hats with ribbons and feathers.
If you would like to join us for a taster session on Thursday 6 November at Abbeyfields then please come along at 7:30pm. You don’t have to live in Winchcombe to be part of our side. We will try out a few dances and then drop into the local pub afterwards for a much needed drink! If you are interested, but can’t make the taster session, then please contact Cressida Pryor on 07791 004649.
